The Mayflower Pilgrims
by Edmund Janes Carpenter
Who were the Pilgrims? Whence did they come? Why did they emigrate to the inhospitable shores of New England? New Englanders have always known about the manuscript left by Governor William Bradford at his death, of the history of the Colony of Plymouth. Early writers of our country alluded to or quoted from it's pages, including an early New England historian. It was in the possession of one Governor Hutchinson as late as the year 1767 and
then for nearly 100 years it disappeared from the knowledge of Americans.
Who has not heard of the Mayflower andPlymouth Rock?
Be re-introduced to familiar persons from our school days, such as Massasoit, the great Indian chief and Squanto, the Pilgrim's friend, and Miles Standish. Hear of these people in our American history who were willing to forsake all to be able to worship God freely according to their own consciences.
