Thought provoking; introspective; and verbatim from Holy Writ.
Ecclesiastes is but one part of the 'wisdom literature' which includes Job,
Psalms, Proverbs and the Song of Solomon. It lacks any note of praise or
peace since it is written from the point of a natural man, with his reasons
and actions apart from God and is a picture of a meaningless, purposeless,
empty life of the un-regenerate.
Ecclesiastes is an example of an empty man, having only that which is "under
the sun", and apart from that which is above the sun; that is, God's
revelation and salvation.
In evidence is a yearning for something beyond one's self, a yearning that
can only be found in Christ, where there is no longer vanity but a full,
abundant and glorious life filled with joy, peace and gladness.
