It
has been well said that "The work of God in man is the man himself",
and since this is true, the Church's great need today is to hear the
important topic of this book.
The Crook ( trials sent by God ) into the Lot (the life of man), causes
man's proud heart to be brought into submission to the rule of a sovereign,
wise and loving God. It is in this life that humility must be obtained,
that we might be made meet for heavenly bliss; making man humble "under
the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt him in due time"; causing
His people to say, " Before I was afflicted I went astray: but
now have I kept Thy word." "It is good for me that I have
been afflicted that I might learn Thy statutes."
Boston's simple and straightforward explanation of God's purpose in
sending afflictions, leaves no doubt Who is in charge; yet his pastor's
heart is evident and his words brings glory to God and hope to the
saints.
This book is a Puritan Classic..and will rightfully take it's place
in the saint's personal library or in the Church library. |
